Comprehensive security infrastructure

Both Malta and Gozo campus are covered by CCTV cameras across all areas. Our security staff are regularly trained and operate a 24-hour control room monitoring CCTV, access control systems, fire and intruder alarms across the campus. Security patrols take place at regular intervals 24 hours a day. As additional security protection to everyone on campus from adverse occurrances, we have an active guard system carried out by security staff during their tour of duty using a data torch monitoring system.

Our security staff are all trained to provide first aid service to incidents. We can also help you access medical emergency services or police, if necessary.

First Aid on campus

We are firm believers in providing a safety environment. First aiders are always present on campus. We have 30 staff members who are trained in providing first aid response including security staff, academics, administration, and technical staff.

First aid boxes are available across the campus which are easily accessible by students and staff whenever the need arises. First aid boxes are located in:

  • the practical kitchens
  • restaurants
  • laboratories
  • workshops
  • laundry area
  • security offices in Block A and Block C in Malta campus and reception area in Gozo campus

The Institute provides First Aid training to its students as part of their studies and have invested in First Aid equipment such as CPR manikins to learn the basics of CPR and a chocking rescue vest. Students also have access to an Automated Emergency Defibrillator for training purposes.

Where do you find the First Aid room?

The First Aid room is found in Block B, Room 08 close to the reception area in Malta campus and near the reception area in Gozo campus. The First Aid room is furnished to provide the basic first aid assistance.

Automated Emergency Defibrillator (AED)

An Automated Emergency Defibrillator (AED) is also available in Malta and Gozo campus. The AED is located outside the First Aid room in Block B, Room 8, close to the reception area. A number of staff are trained in providing first aid support using AED.

Service of Student lockers

Students may avail of student lockers located in Block C. The lockers offer a safe place for students to store personal belongings. All lockers include locker keys control and lockers are only for individual use.

In the beginning of the academic year, students may book a personal locker. First preference is given to students who attend kitchen practical sessions. Students following other courses may still apply for a locker which will then be allocated on a first come first served basis. Further information on how to acquire student lockers can be found in the student pack given to each student during the induction day.
